The Doughboys Live at The Suffolk!!!
Friday, April 29 at 9:00pm - April 30 at 12:00am
Location The Suffolk, 107 Suffolk Street, Lower East Side, NYC
The Suffolk is thrilled to present THE DOUGHBOYS live with SONIC BLUE SOUND REVUE, Friday April 29!!!
For the uninitiated, the Doughboys were an amazing garage rock band during their initial stint in the mid '60s, and were the house band at Cafe Wha? in 1968. After a brief 35 year hiatus, they got back together and are, very seriously, better than ever. They've put out 2 full length albums since reuniting, and their songs have repeatedly been chosen "Coolest Songs in the Word" on Little Steven's Underground Garage, and for good reason!
So, needless to say, you should probably go to this show.

Check 'em out!:

90 Manhattan Ave. (btwn. Boerum & McKibben)
Brooklyn, NY
It's been a minute since Brooklyn's heavy heady boogie-rock champions STRANGE HAZE brought their amp-overdriving agenda to the stage at Don Pedro. In fact, the last time we did so was when we were still Whooping Crane. But that's all good because Don Pedro has got all kinds of new stylings going on now too: new management, new stage area, new bar staff. Same old Jake Noodles, though - and we wouldn't have it any other way.
We've got a couple of bands before us: Dead Sexy Sheila and STEER. We hit at about midnight. Come welcome us back to Bushwick in grand style.

Hullabaloo! SAT.APR9 Overnight Lows,F.Care,Brimstones,Ape Hangers@DP
9:00pm
Location Don Pedro
90 Manhattan ave
Brooklyn, NY
We're back with a four-star bill of one-star trash rock at the new Don Pedro on Saturday, April 9th!
Do you like sloppy seconds? OF COURSE you do! That's why you'll thrill to this night as we pick up where SXSW left off with the OVERNIGHT LOWS, whose straight ahead Mississippian modern garage rock stunned audiences at the recent GONER RECORDS showcase down thereabouts. No horses were harmed at... said show (unlike others), but we can make NO guarantees for Hullabaloo!
Supporting this attempt to get into the Overnight Lows' collective pants will be none other than New York sleaze merchants FOSTER CARE, by now well known to all and sundry who love everything that's shouty, punky and brewster(?).
Not to mention the return of New Jersey garage stars the BRIMSTONES and the debut of the REAL lineup of the APE HANGERS, a new Brooklyn surf combo featuring members of Big Fun, the Siberians and the Othermen!
As always, your ever-willing slight knights Shimmy and Charles Gaskins will man the wheels of STEAL (look it up!) both between and AFTER the live performances of these reprobates and will attune their plastic trash to the exact frequency of your stompin' heels with garage rock, 60's r'n'b and hell, even some mariachi punk (it exists doubters!)
Doors at 9PM. Cover $7. Cheap ass beers all night ($3 cans what what!) plus some pretty awesome food.

BROOKLYN BEEFSTEAK
The beef is back -- come one, come all to the second-and-a-half annual Brooklyn Beefsteak. Endless pitchers of New York's oldest oat soda on every table, heaping stacks of hot beef cuts, mountains of uneaten bread, and absolutely no utensils! Chow down to the hillbilly boogie rhythms of the Susquehanna Industrial Tool @ Die Co. (SIT & DIE) and sip McSorley's suds until your heart's content. It is a veritable celebration of America's favorite libation and our carnivorous inclinations. Boisterous crowds committed to stacking bread and communal singing are not only welcome, but encouraged at this Spring awakening!
Tammany Hall politicians invented the all-you-can-eat-and-drink beef and beer feast to buy votes. The flash-in-the-pan extravaganzas were fashionable among New York's elite, but lost favor in the early 20th century, surviving only in backwaters of Bergen & Passaic counties (Jersey). After 100 years in exile, the raucous atmosphere of the New York docks and saloons of years past has made its rightful return to the shores of the Gowanus. As beefsteak historian Bill Wander once said, "there is no wrong way to throw a beefsteak." Let's prove him right!
*Everyone takes home their very own souvenir apron so you always have a cow map handy when you are grilling poolside...

Soho, Manhattan: Soho Grand Club Room (310 W. Broadway) - Memorial Benefit for Kate Blake with all-star lineup, 7-10pm, $25 min Kate Blake, niece of April March, and friend to many (not to mention actress, model, artist, etc) tragically passed away Friday after heroic struggle with recovering not only from a pedestrian accident that left her in a minimally responsive state for six months but also a murder attempt as well. While this night was initially set up months ago as a benefit for her medical expenses to help get her on her feet, it is sadly now a memorial that will go towards helping take care her family's enormous expenses. If you can't make it, go to http://theeducationfund.info/ to learn more about Kate and contribute. A very good cause to say the least.
