Dance Like There's No Tomorrow w/ Libel, Wojcik, The Planes & DJ Stivi
Thursday, December 20, 2012
8:00pm
Some interpretations of the Maya calendar (such as the "amazing" film "2012") suggest it's absolutely curtains on 12/21/12. Well, we know no better way to go out than a wild dance party, particularly one that features DJ Stivi, just in from Milan. Also, enjoy some end-of-the-world sets of rockage from:
Libel - http://www.facebook.com/libelmusic
Wojcik – http://www.facebook.com/WOJCIKband
The Planes – http://www.facebook.com/ThePlanesNYC

WFMU benefit record swap!
Sunday, December 9, 2012
3:00pm
WFMU, which in my opinion is one of the best radio stations EVER, was hard hit by Hurricane Sandy. They lost a lot of equipment and had to cancel their annual record fair, which is a major source of funding for them.
In an effort to help, we're promoting a lil' ol' record swap of our own, with all proceeds from dealer tables going directly to WFMU.
It will be held on Sunday, December 9 at Bar 82. Bar 82 is located at
136 2nd Ave, in Manhattan (http://www.bar82nyc.com/)
The swap starts at 3 PM and goes till whenever. The bar will be open and some of the city's best DJ's will be spinning.
We invite you to have a great time shopping for records while shaking a tail feather and simultaneously helping WFMU!

Masterpieces: A Fact-Filled Coloring Book
FRIDAY DECEMBER 14
6:00PM - 10:00PM
ONE NIGHT ONLY
Curtis Cates and Emily Burnell Petrou present a collection of 60 newly imagined pages from 'Masterpieces: A Fact-Filled Coloring Book.' Professional artists of various disciplines, as well as creative nonprofessionals, were recruited to reinterpret the book's 60 pages, each depicting a famous work of art. HULLABALOO! rides again one last time this calendar year with one of our favorite bands of the past couple años-- LOS VIGILANTES
That's not all folks... we've also got THE PSYCHED, the sludgy garage rock trio that's sweeping the nation with their recently released Black Gladiator LP; GHOST BIKINI, a bunch of southern femme-fronted organ ravers debuting up No'th; THE MONSIEURS' 60's pop put through the meat grinder of Tunnel of Love's acoustics; and DOOZIES, a fresh young bunch of punks guaranteed to ruin everything-- except for your night.
This is the last Hullabaloo! of the year AND for the foreseeable future... we'll be taking some months off and who knows, may NEVER return to these hallowed halls.
SO come down one last time to drink from the cup o' kindness and dance to sounds laid down by Charles and Shimmy...

Scenic Presents:
A John Waters' Christmas
Tickets on sale now (http://www.tarrytownmusichall.org/)
Legendary filmmaker John Waters (“Pink Flamingos””Hairspray””Serial Mom”) performs a very developed one-man show at festivals, universities, and clubs across the world and has since the 1970’s. In it, he details his groundbreaking career in a rapid-fire stand-up comedy format (akin to high-brow comics and monologists such as Spalding Gray, Janeane Garofalo, and Margaret Cho) plus conducts a Q & A afterwards.
The show has played to sold-out audiences in New York, Copenhagen, London, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Tucson, Washington (DC), Sydney (Australia), Indianapolis, and beyond.

Seven inch records clean infinitely faster than the LPs that we’ve done at the two Brooklyn Bowl Wash-A-Thons but there are a lot of them! Bring along some rolls of paper towels and a pair of plastic gloves and let's give the wax a rubdown! Norton's seven inchers got soaked by Sandy and all the boss picture sleeves are now history. Help us dip n' dry these sevens back into action- come on over and don't forget the elbow grease! Plenty of wild 45s will be spun all night long!

The project got started in hallway benefactor style after Cates found the discarded book in his apartment building on the Lower East Side of New York City and got to wondering how a bunch of creative grown-ups would color inside and outside the lines.
Including: Donny Cates, Kaitlin Martin, Emily Burnell Petrou, Lloyd Maines, Guenveur Burnell, Jill Seale, Eric Norris, David C. Barnett, Terri Hendrix, John Woods, Steve Waugh, Connie Champagne, Doug Wakefield, Rich Brown, Claudia Alvarez, Elsa Hiltner, Ericka Wellman James, Brent Riley, Rick Hall, Maddy Walker, Terry Rosenberg, Colleen Fogarty, Andie Beahn, Gyda Gash, Katina Petrou, Terry Allen, Terri Marlowe, Elizabeth Lefmann Blair , Bob Groke, Tommy Glazner, Peter Ketchum, Debora Parks, Kick Cates, Curtis Cates, Richard Baker, Addie Cheges, Sally Randall Brunger, Joe Culley, Susan Quinn-Waugh, Rick Rodine, Thomas Eller, Nicole Bufanio, Joy Brown, Dianna Hedren, Kelly Lamb, Mikel Campbell, Chris Cates, Samoa, George Pickow, Kurt Walters, Siobhan Meow, Elke Claus, Jennifer Carpenter, Marc Miller & Katherine Jansky Michaelson, William Wickline, Kelli Smith, Claudia Alvarez, Rosemary Fogarty, Dawn Behzadi, Kembra Pfahler, David Bjerklie, Richard Kern, Howie Pyro + Michael Kortez.

HULLABALOO! rides again one last time this calendar year with one of our favorite bands of the past couple años-- LOS VIGILANTES

Honey Space: Thomas Beale
It is with supreme pleasure that I announce Honey Space, the final exhibition and experience to occur within Honey Space. Bringing the lifecycle of the space full circle, Honey Space takes the form of an exhibition of sculpture as well as a celebration of this anomalous, shape-shifting entity that has improbably taken root and opened and closed its doors on the West Side Highway since 2007. Following the exhibition, the building housing Honey Space will be closed, dismantled brick by brick, and this space, and moment in time, will be folded back into the ever-layered memory that is New York City.

The Society for the Advancement of Social Studies
The Society for the Advancement of Social Studies is proud to present a series of lectures designed to both entertain and enlighten. On the first Tuesday of each month we will meet to discuss a different historical topic that you probably knew at one point but don’t remember anymore, plus themed drink specials.
September 2012 will mark a very important event in world history: the one year anniversary of the Society for the Advancement of Social Studies. To celebrate, we're going to drink a bunch of beer and teach you all about other famous firsts in history. Our speakers will talk about scientific discoveries that have shaped modern humanity, taboo-busting moments in TV history and firsts in space.

from nonsense
