Zinester's Guide to NYC Release Fete, Mini Zine Fair, and Reading
Celebrating the release of the Zinester’s Guide to NYC by Ayun Halliday. Listen to the Bushwick Book Club performing original songs inspired by the ZG2NYC. Hit the mini zine fair for our contributors’ zines and self-published comics. Enjoy a breakneck recitation of some of our favorite listings. Several lucky contestants will be invited onstage to compete for fabulous low budget prizes in the ZG2NYC’s Live $2 Pyramid Game Show. Food and drink specials available for purchase in the Bookstore Café - help Housing Works fight AIDS and homelessness by buying beer, coffee, knishes, etc.
Why watch the parade when you can march in it? The Zinester’s Guide to NYC wholeheartedly encourages its readers to guest bartend, play bike polo in Sara Roosevelt Park, create public parks in metered parking spaces, and submit the 5-minute movies they shoot on the boardwalk to next year's Coney Island Film Festival. Pocket-sized and user friendly, the Zinester’s Guide to NYC is an indispensable resource for both first-time visitors and New Yorkers of longstanding, a personal history, and a window through which armchair travelers can experience this town.

The Grand Meeting of the Corduroy Appreciation Club
This is the biggest annual event for supporters of corduroy fabric. Featuring a keynote address from Public Radio International's Jesse Thorn, a stirring address from the mysterious founder of the Corduroy Appreciation Club, and other vertically striped and textured entertainment. Note that 11/11 is the date which most closely resembles corduroy. Dress code is obvious. Also, a truly wonderful venue for lovers of old New York and libraries.

Sky Box Aerial and Variety Show
Have you noticed how a lot more events across New York City feature aerial acts recently? Wonder what those aerial performers do for fun? They train and perform with the Sky Box aerial community at the House of Yes! Join us for the November installation of the monthly Sky Box Aerial and Variety Show, featuring NYC's best performers doing trapeze, silks, rope, burlesque, juggling, contortion, partner balancing and more! The unconventional cabaret will be hosted by the infamous Mistress of Ceremonies, Kae Burke. There will be spandex, glitter, fake eyelashes, pasties, beautiful aerialists and dirty jokes - pretty much the BEST way to spend a Thursday night. All proceeds benefit the Sky Box aerial community, which provides support and opportunities for aerial performers and operates New York City’s only dedicated aerial theater, in conjunction with the House of Yes.
