PHOEBE WASHBURN
Nunderwater Nort Lab
in collaboration with Mary Boone Gallery
Zach Feuer Gallery, in collaboration with Mary Boone Gallery, is pleased to present two exhibitions by Phoebe Washburn: Nunderwater Nort Lab, a site-specific installation, at Zach Feuer Gallery and Temperatures in a Lab of Superior Specialness, an exhibition of new sculpture, at Mary Boone Gallery.
Phoebe Washburn's work explores generative systems based on absurd patterns of production often created by inefficiency. The rules that govern Washburn's systems of production inform her sculpture and installation formally as well as conceptually.
Exhibition dates: June 30-August 12, 2011
Opening reception: Wednesday, June 29, 6-8PM

The Strange Boys / White Fence / Babies
Austin, TX's The Strange Boys evoke a wild-eyed, porcelain-skinned innocence that is capable of summoning the wayward spirit of Brian Jones. Greg Enlow's syncopated, organ-driven grooves hark back to the Seeds' "Pushing Too Hard" while guitarist Ryan Sambol's voice wavers beyond comparison. Older brother Philip Sambol keeps the pulse with the aptly named Matt Hammer, who unmercifully pounds an old Ludwig set. The Strange Boys were the backing band for Mighty Hannibal (the '50s R&B recording artist) and have shared bills with Daniel Johnston, Black Lips, Reigning Sound, King Khan and BBQ, Jay Reatard, Mika Miko, No Age, BRMC and many others.
Two more artists round out the night—White Fence is one man, Tim Presley, who is also a singer in garage-soul band Darker My Love, player on The Fall album Reformation Post TLC and now full-time member of The Strange Boys. And up first will be Babies featuring Kevin Morby of Woods and Cassie Ramone of Vivian Girls.

The Grandest Vintage Sale EVER!
Saturday, June 18 · 11:00am - 7:00pm
Stoop in the ol' East Village
516 East 13th Street (between Avenues A & B)
Sure, "grandest ever" is a bit subjective, but this really is one house & stoop sale you won't want to miss! Behold... men's & women's clothing and household treasures from the turn-of-the-century to the seventies, brought to you by a small group of vintage-loving packrat pals with keen collectors' eyes -- and bursting closets! Plus, with an array of prices starting at a mere three dollars (heck, maybe even less), there's bound ...to be something for everyone!
For the ladies: Bakelite jewelry, vintage dresses, hats, coats and accoutrements from all eras, a huge array of vintage shoes and more. For the gents, there's even more -- *much* more -- featuring a personal 20-year collection of fine men's attire (in all sizes, oddly enough) from the '30s to the early '60s, never before offered for sale, including dozens of both double and single-breasted '40s suits, '50s sportcoats, gabardine shirts and Hollywood-waisted pants -- as well as shoes, sweaters, topcoats, hats, dressing gowns, western wear and countless garish neckties! There's even unworn, "new old stock" items thrown in for good measure! Surely, our growing lack of storage space is to your advantage.
It's one day only, rain or shine, starting at 11am (sorry, no early birds, please!), with both cash and PayPal options accepted. Look for our welcoming bargain table on the sidewalk, with packed racks aplenty upstairs on the third floor. In the meantime, peruse our pics here for some of the items for sale. Hope to see you on Saturday!

THE BARRERACUDAS
BABY SHAKES
The Barracudas were a UK band formed in the late 1970s, notable for their 1980 hit single "Summer Fun" which reached number 37 in the UK singles chart. Originally perceived as a novelty surf act due to their early material, subsequent recordings showed them to be a fierce garage rock'n'roll band in the mold of the 13th Floor Elevators and The Seeds, with the pop sensibilities of the Sire-era Flamin Groovies, the Byrds, and Beau Brummels. The band also notably featured Chris Wilson of the aforementioned Flamin Groovies, and Australia's Jim Dickson (Passengers, New Christs, Radio Birdman).
Jeremy Gluck, lead singer and pop mastermind of The Barracudas, takes you back to the "other eighties," with an all-star ensemble of supreme young power-pop phenoms playing all your favorites from the first two classic Barracudas LPs!

DENNIS COFFEY
Dennis Coffey is best known for his instrumental funk smash hit "Scorpio". His guitar work is also featured on many of Detroit's greatest recordings, Motown and otherwise.
THE DIRTBOMBS
One of Mick Collins' many post-Gories projects, the Dirtbombs initially seemed to exist more in concept than in reality. As if in reaction to the bass-less sound of the Gories, the Detroit-based band brought together two drummers, two bass players, and Collins on vocals and guitar. And other than consistently loud volumes and lots of noise, the Dirtbombs actually displayed a surprisingly diverse sound, composing across a broad spectrum of styles from garage rock, punk, and glam to classic soul and R&B.

SWITCHBOARD #4
Switchboard is a night of musical transposition with guest vocalists and DJs curated by Telephoned
Switchboard will be a night based around music being "Telephoned" - the process of transforming a song into something new by refocusing it through the artists unique lens
Not just another generic "dance party", Fools Gold artists Telephoned will invite special guests to participate in the "Telephoned concept" using live performance and DJ sets to create the hip 2011 version of the speakeasy cocktail singer lounge.
Guests will play music relating to their own understanding of the concept, a mixture of strict cover songs, tasteful mash-ups and era-fusing remixes. They will be doing something aside from their usual approach, attracting their fan bases to see their unique one of a kind performance at this customized music experience.

They will be doing something aside from their usual approach, attracting their fan bases to see their unique one of a kind performance at this customized music experience.
this month's guests:
Tanlines (live guitar with DJ set) & Queen Majesty
