HULLABALOO Fri Aug20 w/DEVA, Othermen, Twin Guns, more @ Bruar Falls
245 Grand St
Brooklyn, NY
I hereby trumpet the next occurrence of the most holy and righteous Hullabaloo happening on Friday, August 20th, 2010 at BRUAR FALLS in the burgh of William, Brooklyn City.
We have a literally once-in-a-year bill topped by the excellent DEVA, who are NOT necessarily men (no!) but rather WOMYN fronting an excellent Devo revival band, complete with choreographed jerking and pitching, costumes and god knows what els...e (Booji Girl? Don't be surprised). This will be your only chance in YOOL 2010 to check this experience, so don't you miss it!
Brooklyn's own OTHERMEN will also perform with their fantastical new 'mark 2' lineup featuring the most right reverend HEARTLOCK on keyboards. This show will serve as the opening day of Killer Diller season as the Othermen's first LP on said label of record will be available at this show! Order your pizzas now!
They will be most ably supported by the double-barreled action music of TWIN GUNS, who continue to blast away at the crumbling infrastructure of a sleepy new york scene with their glorious two-headed thrash.
Not to mention that the legendarily impossible-to-book HEADLESS HOOKERS will be opening with gospel-inflected punk fuzz... a booking 3 years in the making!
What more do you want? DJs?
You'll be visited by three:
Shimmy, Charles Gaskins and special guest Seanzi Dirtbag (Othermen) !
They'll be spinning... forever and ever amen!

After Party for the Fort Greene Park Literary Festival
Music, refreshments, and signing with Festival authors and hosts
The 6th annual Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival will present a free outdoor reading on August 21st at 3:00 PM at the top of the park, featuring young writers (seven to eighteen-year-olds) reading alongside six poets who have appeared at the annual Calabash International Literary Festival in Jamaica and in the anthology So Much Things to Say: Kwame Dawes, Gregory Pardlo, Willie Perdomo, Carl Hancock Rux, Patricia Smith, and Cheryl Boyce Taylor. Created by the wonderful Fort Greene nonprofit organization New York Writers Coalition, this exciting event brings several generations of writers together to build on the rich literary traditions of the neighborhoods surrounding beautiful Fort Greene Park.
Greenlight is honored to be the alternate "rain venue" for the event, and to welcome all of the authors and audience to the bookstore after the event for music, mingling, refreshments, and a chance to purchase copies of So Much Things to Say and get them autographed by the featured authors.
