Metropolis Fest 2: Day Two
Saturday, May 21 at 8:00pm - May 22 at 4:00am
Brooklyn Fireproof East
119 Ingraham St
Brooklyn, NY
Saturday, May 21st at METROPOLIS VINTAGE (43 3rd ave) acoustic punkabilly roots tunes from BACKDOOR STAN, SWEET TOOTH NELSON and BROWNBIRD RUDY RELIC while DJ COWBOY MARK takes command of your dancing shoes and the 20% OFF SALE CONTINUES!!
After, the Metropolis gang will head over to BROOKLYN FIREPROOF for the final blowout. Brooklyn’s PEACE-KILLERS (Ex-Humans, Foster Care) feature dissonant, bluesy songs more stripped down than a centerfold.
Dirty, shambolic rock duo, THE PSYCHED (Tunnel of Love) will follow, with reverb and riffs for all the punks and degenerates.
THE JOHNNY ILL BAND (Terrible Twos) from Detroit feature veterans of the RETURN OF DETROIT show, where, if you were foolish enough to miss TIMMY’S ORGANISM (Clone Defects, Human Eye) you should know to expect a bombardment of weirdo-punk slime to twist your neck and crack your spine.
Embrace the madness and prepare to meet WHITE MYSTERY. Led by fiery redhead ALEX WHITE, these ginger siblings belt out a soul-driven-psych-tainted garage surge through pounding drums and gutturally gorgeous vox. Get their new LP, Blood and Venom at the show.
Then NOBUNNY!! A perfect blend of bubblegum, power-pop, lo-fi antics and three-chord-retardation
DJs CHRIS MILLSTEIN (Mondo Kim’s Video) and MICK COLLINS (The Gories, The Dirtbombs) will be spinning inside and outside for your backside, while Stalkers frontman ANDY ANIMAL hosts the party with giveaways, colorful anecdotes and tasty treats.

SPOONS TOONS AND BOOZE
Spoons, Toons, and Booze, New York's #1 cold cereal buffet and animation party is back!
Do you miss Saturday mornings filled with an endless supply of sugary cereals and quality cartoons on TV? Tired of the usual $15 brunch of lukewarm poached eggs? Then head to Union Hall for the ultimate brunch for the kid in you - Retro Cartoons, Delicious Cocktails, and Free All-You-Can-Eat Sugar Cereal Bar.
Come vote for the cartoons to be screened! Duck Tales, Thundercats, Jem, Gummi Bears, Smurfs, Batman the Animated Series, Looney Toons, Scooby Doo, He-Man, The Real Ghostbusters, Garfield & Friends, Transformers, X-Men, Tail Spin...Over 80 cartoon series from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's and the audience gets to choose!
The free cereal buffet will have all the shades of the food-coloring rainbow and all the marshmallow bits you can handle. Mix 'em up and create your own new flavor. Fruity Pebbles and Cinnamon Toast Crunch in milk? Why not add vodka for an extra kick? Speaking of vodka we have the city's best and biggest White Russian menu, including "The Sonny" (with Cocoa Puffs in it!) and Quik-induced flavors like chocolate, strawberry or banana. How about a "Smurfberry Juice" (a Blue Russian), or a caramel one? We've got 'em all and more...cow or soy milk!
Sing-Along to classic cartoon theme songs!
Compete in contests to choose what we watch and win sweet prizes!
Roll out of bed and head over to Union Hall for the best Saturday morning cartoon club in the tri-state region.

The Last Subway Soul Club
Saturday, May 21 at 10:00pm - May 22 at 4:00am
Location The Loft
70 North 6th St, Williamsburg
Brooklyn, New York
Its with very mixed feelings that I announce that May's Subway Soul Club will be our last. We are losing our venue and after nine and a half years and six regular locations, instead of going in search of yet another elusive new space, I've decided we've earned time off for good behavior ( or is it bad behavior?!)
We will no longer be doing the monthly club and, at present, have no other events planned.
...Come and have a last blast to 60s Northern Soul, Motown and Go-Go Grooves spun by Phast Phreddie The Boogaloo Omnibus and guests dance. Give a farewell hug to Lady Dawn and let's dance, drink and be merry to celebrate nearly 10 years of great friends, great music and great memories we were too drunk to remember!
Who knows, maybe we will still do occasional events or collaborations in the future so I urge everyone to make sure they are on the mailing list in case anything comes up or we have a change of heart.
I really hope you can join us for our last fling on May 21st. We're gonna miss you all!

The Rapture party (and clothing sale)
Saturday, May 21 at 6:00pm - May 22 at 3:00am
Location undisclosed rooftop(s)
Brooklyn, NY
As you may have heard from reliable sources (the Internets), the Rapture is coming 5/21/11. The righteous will be raised to the sky to meet their maker (literally), while the sinners will be left behind on Earth to meet the End Times of the Apocalypse (coming soon).
We don't know about you, but to us the only proper way to greet this momentous occasion seems to be while gazing skyward from a (yet-to-be-named) rooftop, with music ...and drinks and good friends.
RSVP here if you might want to join us. If you have musical talents, helpings hands, rooftop(s) or great ideas to offer, hit us up. We'll let you know how this thing shapes up by mid-week next week.
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=211743238847655
Oh and since it's the end of the world anyway, we'll start the evening by selling off some of our extensive costume & clothing collection. Now you REALLY know it's over.
